Story
In June 2016 I sadly lost my dad after a sudden short illness - This is when my running journey began. I would run to cope, and I would run through the grief.
The months before and after losing my dad were the most painful ones I have had to endure in my life. The shock and pain caused by dad's prognosis was devastatingly heart-breaking for myself and my family. Dad spent his last few days at the beautiful, tranquil and relaxing North Devon Hospice. These days were still very hard, but the support of the Hospice staff was outstanding and always tirelessly friendly, caring and professional in what I personally feel must be emotionally and incredibly hard calling. The care he received was outstanding and the support that was given to my family and I was Truly magnificent.
The work the Hospice does is amazing and is only made possible by funds raised by charity. In 2020 I was lucky enough to get a ballet place for the London Marathon. Because of Covid I didn't get to London and was able to defer my place to this October. I am so excited for my training (believe it or not) and to finally get to London!
I will be running in memory of my dad and to help raise funds for the North Devon Hospice to say thank you and hope that others may benefit from the care they give - They really are an amazing team!
Please donate whatever you can to this amazing charity.
Thank you,
Lucy xx
