Story
Hi everyone,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am running the London Marathon to raise money for Epilepsy Society which is a charity renowned for its research in making strides towards finding the causes of epilepsy and controlling seizures. They offer medical advice, medical training and campaign to raise awareness of epilepsy around the country.
This charity is one very close to my heart and I am raising money in memory of one of my best friends Emily Sumaria who sadly passed away from SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) on December 4th 2012 whilst we were at university. Every year, roughly one in every thousand people with epilepsy will die suddenly with no obvious cause and this is what Epilepsy Society are working hard to prevent. Here is a link if you want to read more about epilepsy and what Epilepsy Society does http://www.epilepsysociety.org.uk/
I miss Emily every single day and wish she could be there to watch and cheer me on. Grieving a loved one is something, which never ends. Coming to terms with her loss is a difficult process which everyone deals with in their own way. I’m doing this not only to raise awareness of SUDEP and raise money to help aid research so that one day seizures can be controlled and SUDEP can be prevented, but also as a way to grieve and come to terms with the fact that I wont be able to see her again.
I would really appreciate your support in raising both money and awareness for such an amazing cause and one which means so much to all of us. So please like and share this page as much as you can to help me raise my target. Emily used to joke about my laziness when it came to hockey at uni and I’m sure the idea of me completing a marathon will make her laugh...so here goes!
