Story

We're the Peaky Bikers - a mix of semi-elite (although stretching the definition) and decidedly amateur cyclists who are bravely taking on the Maggie's Everesting Cycle Challenge on our local Watlington Hill.

Last year, we somehow managed to complete the Half Everest, so this year we’ve set ourselves the ultimate challenge – to complete the Full Everest. That’s over 80 times up Watlington Hill. Foolish? Mad? Brave? We are all of those things but we’re determined to reach our peak, even if some of us have to tow the rest of us up the hill.

Our endeavours have a particular resonance this time round. Last June, just four days after taking part in the event, Lucy was unexpectedly diagnosed with breast cancer. Thanks to the incredible medical team at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford she is now cancer-free and back on her bike so to speak.

She’s enormously grateful for the support she received from Maggie’s Oxford, and determined that more people know about and have access to the kind of help only Maggie's can provide.

Your donations will mean that they can build more centres across the UK. Everyone needs a Maggie’s.
