Story
This year I'm taking on the Tent for Lent challenge in aid of ShelterBox by giving up, well ........ swearing
Swearing brings me so much joy (I know, I know terrible), but as we all know, too much of a good thing can actually be bad. In prep for this ridiculously hard challenge, I wanted to do a little research into the tactics I can try to help:
1. PRETEND LIKE YOUR GRANDMA IS LISTENING.
I actually 'LOLd' when I read this! Where do you think I got some of these words from .... will have to try and think of someone else, maybe my friend's children?? (although this is not always a deterrent)
2. FIND SOME REPLACEMENT WORDS.
Apparently, I should consider this a fun challenge to boost my vocabulary. Be prepared for lots of 'fudge', 'frick' or 'shoot' - not sure they really broaden my vocabulary horizons, will try and be more imaginative
3. GET OUT THE GOOD OLD-FASHIONED SWEAR JAR.
Well, here it is, my modern-day swear jar. For each 'slip up', I'll make a £1 donation .... I should have probably made my fundraising goal a little higher?
If you would like to donate a few extra pennies to help provide shelter to families who have lost their homes to disaster that would be awesome. Or, you could always join me???
