Story
I am a registrar in Paediatric Surgery working at Leicester Children's Hospital. Until this year my experience of cycling was limited to flat surfaces, no more than 3 miles at a time. Needless to say, I will not be partaking in the whole Land's End to John O'Groats (LEJOG) route, but have been persuaded that a single day consisting of a 125-mile cycle is a good idea(!)
A group of 6 of my work colleagues and their friends are cycling the whole route, in just 8 days, in order to raise money for essential medical equipment for our children's surgical ward. All team members are paying for their own equipment, so that every penny raised will go to buy kit for our kids, which includes: vital signs monitoring, a breastpump to support our breastfeeding mums and keyhole surgical instruments.
Your support will be gratefully received - many thanks,
Lucy
