Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
ICS is a UK government-funded development programme that brings together 18 to 25-year-olds from all backgrounds to fight poverty in overseas and UK communities. It is a chance to help raise money and awareness of the serious issues that occur in other countries around the world. With the help from the donations and my help in person, WE can change peoples lives, WE will improve their chances of living.’
With a group of volunteers I will be going to Nyimba which is based in Zambia and work with the community out there, to improve living, fight poverty, share knowledge and skills, to develop a long lasting friendship and to bring action HOME!
The programme I have been assigned to is Health. Throughout my 3 months I will be talking to the community through workshops provided by me and the volunteers through VSO, about sexual and reproductive health for young people aged 15-30 years old. I will also be helping create Anti-Aids clubs and health corners in schools to educate the children on the provisions they can take to prevent themselves from becoming at risk. Raising health awareness on sexual health in Zambia is becoming such a big thing and I'm so proud to be able to say I'm apart of raising that awareness and having this opportunity to educate and save lives.
This experience I know will change not just my life by giving what I can, but the people who need VSO for support. By receiving the love and support from you, right there at home, with the click of a button you can make a safe and secure donation which goes to the VSO charity, so people like my self get the opportunity to make a difference!
**The programme is funded 90% by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the other 10% comes from volunteer fundraising.
So all we are asking from you, is to please give as much or as little as you can to show together we can unite and do this as one.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask me, I am currently planning to do a 60 mile bike ride from Blackpool to Lancaster for VSO, so please please please donate.
*Over the next few days a blog will go live, so you can keep up-to date and know where your money will be going and believe me its for such a good cause! for more information on the VSO please follow the link below:
