Story

I've been lucky enough to secure a ballot place in the 2023 London Marathon, and I'm raising money for YoungMinds because every young person deserves the mental health support they need, when they need it, no matter what. I've never ran a marathon before, so I promise this will be a huge challenge for me!!!

I've experienced the reality of being a young person struggling with low mood, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. The lack of understanding and support for young people struggling needs to change.

Every young person whose mental health ends up in crisis is a young person who has been failed.

Less than 1 in 3 young people with a mental health condition get access to NHS care and treatment.

A quarter of 17-year-old girls have self-harmed in the last year in the UK.

Suicide is the single biggest killer of boys and young men.

But things can get better.

Young Minds provide young people with tools to look after their mental health. They empower adults to be the best support they can be to the young people in their lives. And they give young people the space and confidence to get their voices heard and change the world we live in.
