Story
As most of you will know I am passionate about walking, especially with a four legged friend, but on this occasion I have chosen a more talkative companion to endure the miles with, in my great friend, Debbie Ayton. We are challenging ourselves to a 34 mile hike across Cornwall along The Saints Way, leaving Padstow on the north coast on 16th June and hopefully arriving in Fowey on the south by Sunday 18th. To encourage us to keep going we are raising money for BEWT, a small but unique charity, who are funding critical research into reducing vasospasms in patients who have suffered a subarachnoid haemorrhage, alarmingly a high percentage of patients are under 30 and female. More research into saving these young lives is so acute.
BEWT was founded by my great friends, the lovely 'Wood' family after the sudden passing of their beautiful daughter, Billie, who tragically suffered a SAH in 2020 at the young age of just 25. Billie was a vibrant star that shone bright in so many people's lives including my own, to continue her legacy BEWT was founded to raise funding for crucial research into reducing the risk of vasospasms in SAH patients, which will hopefully result in alternative treatment and improved outcomes for many.
SAH can happen to any one of us, at any time, and mostly without warning, sadly up to 35% will not survive the initial bleed. By making whatever donation you can will help to fund this vital research project and could just save the life of someone you know.
Thank you in advance for your support, we will keep you posted along our journey via instagram so please follow us @gillianedwards26 and @debayton. You can also follow BEWT's journey @billieelizabethwoodtrust.
