At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

I'm running the London Marathon in April (ahhhhhhhhhhhhh) for 2 very special charities. The first charity I am running for is Alzheimer's Society for my grandma, my boyfriends grandad, my best friends grandpa and all others who are affected by this terrible disease. This charity works to improve the quality of life of those suffering and supports their families. Our memory is so precious and to lose all the wonderful memories we have ever made must be heartbreaking and terrifying. Hopefully one day a cure will be found for this terrible disease. The second charity I am running for is Lara's Foundation. Lara Jones was 2 years above me at school. She was definitely someone I  always looked up to. She was always smiling and so full of life. We did many school productions together which I have such wonderful memories of. Lara was a keen traveller and worked as a TEFL teacher (teaching English as a foreign language) all over the world. In 2012 Lara was murdered in a hostel in Cuba. Her family was determined to keep her spirit alive so set up a charitable foundation in Lara's name. The work they do is incredible!! They have recently bulit a school in Tanzania in Lara's memory. Something that Lara always wanted to do. It's a remarkable charity for a truly remarkable person.
