Story
Hello and thank you for visiting my just giving page!!!
My name is Lucy and I'm excited to tell you I have been selected to volunteer in Nepal for 3 months as part of The International Citizenship Service programme!
I will be primarily focusing on education in Nepal and will be helping out in the ongoing mission to improve equality in schools in the Surkhet region and provide good quality education for both boys and girls.
When in classrooms, girls have historically been overlooked and undervalued so whilst in Nepal i will be teaching the importance of equality as well as assisting with health and hygiene classes whist aiming to make schools more inclusive for girls.
ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development.
The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £800 towards the work of VSO and their ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS, ensuring they can to continue sending youth volunteers to the developing world to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities.
My place on the programme is already paid for - visas, flights, travel and medical insurance, medication, vaccines, food, the lot! This is because ICS believes in the positive impact of young people and wants to offer them an opportunity to change their lives and the lives of others. All the funds volunteers raise will support all ICS partners to run the programme effectively, always contributing to their vital work.
I will be doing all I can to raise as much money as possible for ICS and I hope to raise more awareness during my fundraising, any contribution would make a difference to the lives of people living in developing countries.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
