Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year I cycled 500 miles in April to raise money for Phelan-McDermid Syndrome UK following Ruby's diagnosis in 2020. This year, our wonderful family and friends have decided to continue the fundraising effort by running the Great Manchester Half Marathon in May 2022. This will be the first time some of them have taken part in a race so it's going to be tough, but they're all really determined to make it across the finish line for Ruby!
I'm pleased to say that they've all been training hard since Christmas to prepare and we'll be sharing their journeys with you along the way. In the meantime please give them some encouragement by making a donation however big or small! Thank you!
About Ruby
In 2020 our daughter Ruby was diagnosed with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome - a rare genetic disorder that affects speech, mobility and cognitive development. Just 250 people are diagnosed in the UK.
In addition to this, Ruby was born with one functioning kidney. Despite this she is the bravest, sweetest and happiest little girl who is adored by everyone, especially her twin sister Amber.
Since the diagnosis, our lives have been turned upside down and the foundation has been a lifeline. When doctors couldn't describe what the condition meant, the foundation could. They provide vital support to families like ours, providing a supportive inclusive community.
