Story

Marathon Day is over, and as the excitement dies down, my legs begin to recover, and I start thinking about my next challenge.  I am so pleased with my result 3h52min, my best ever marathon time (by a minute!).  It was a great day with fantastic support around the course, it is amazing to be cheered on by hundreds of thousands of people, you start to feel like a celebrity yourself!  Thank you to everyone for their donations, and if you have not yet had the chance to donate, it is not too late to jump on and put a few quid my way for a great cause - Trauma Care!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  And yes I am tackling another marathon this year.  After swearing blindly that I would not do London again, here I am lacing up my trainers and running in the UK winter to be fit enough in time to race on April 22nd.

This year I am raising funds for Trauma Care, but I am also running in memory of Nelson McCosker (aka Azumah), my Father in Law, who passed away on 20th November 2011 from Pancreatic Cancer.  A strong, amazing man that made a huge difference on all our lives for the better.  Missed but not forgotten.

Trauma Care was founded in 1996 to address the need for commonly agreed standards of best clinical practice in the management of trauma.

The Need

Trauma is a serious public health problem, with notable social and economic costs. In the UK, 17,000 deaths each year are a direct result of injuries. Annually, injuries lead to 720,000 hospital admissions and 6 million visits to emergency departments [1]. Victims of trauma receive care and attention from many individuals within a wide range of specialities and professional backgrounds. Without commonly agreed standards, patients’ outcome may be less than optimal.

Aim

Trauma Care aims to improve the outcome of the trauma victim by establishing best practice throughout the whole chain of care. We achieve this through education, research and publishing.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
