Story
My Father and I are both fundraising for the British Heart Foundation in memory of my Grandmother, Stefanie Murphy, who died prematurely from heart failure.
While she was 89 and getting on a bit, her death was nevertheless completely unexpected. She still played tennis, took herself up to the opera in London (terrifying me in the process by insisting on getting the last train back alone), had just been off gallivanting around Italy and just booked another jolly to Monaco. Yet one day she was suddenly gone and none of our family got a chance to say goodbye.
We found out later that she had been at risk of heart failure but that this had not been identified. More research by bodies such as the British Heart Foundation could help to further develop reliable tests to clearly identify those at risk and so I am running both in my Grandmother's memory but also to raise awareness for the work the charity does.
As some people may know, due to a foot injury I haven't actually been able too run since January so the 'Run Hackney' Half Marathon on 22 June will be a real challenge for me as I'll only have 2 weeks in which to train up. The week before, on 15 June my Father will be doing the London to Brighton cycle having only taken up cycling this year https://www.justgiving.com/Ronald-Sainsbury.
Every donation of whatever size will be very much appreciated.
