Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our page and read our story. In July 2019 we, and our team are going to hike 26.2 miles across the Peak District to raise much needed funds for Macmillan. This wonderful charity has helped us so much, and were one of the first to offer help after a cancer diagnosis. This hike is our way of giving back to them. Here is our story.
We have two children, 6 and 13, and we live at Kendrew Barracks, Rutland. Lucy was Diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma suddenly in May 2018 after a trip to A&E with severe pain in her stomach and back. This was a shock to our young family as she didn't experience any symptoms. The following few months led to long hospital stays, due to the size of the mass, multiple infections and the further complications that the mass in her stomach brought. At the worst point the doctors advised to bring the children in, to say goodbye to their Mum as there was a high chance that she would not make it through the night. We were lucky to make it through the night and subsequently Lucy has now completed her 5 months of Chemoimmunotherapy treatment and with the last scans coming back clear, we now wait for the results of the latest scan and hopefully go into remission. Throughout this time Toby has continued with his work in the British Army, looking after the two children with help from family and friends and supporting his wife through this testing period.
