Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the LSPA JustGiving page.
At Latchmere School we are very fortunate to have our own swimming pool.
Our children swim as part of their school day for up to 18 weeks each year.
The school pays for your child/ren to have lessons with the swimming teacher but you may not be aware that all other costs are paid for from parent donations.
Learning to swim is great fun but also a vital life skill
Our children are very lucky to grow up next to the River Thames but this makes it especially important that they learn to swim well. The benefits of swimming to children’s health & well-being are obvious, but the opportunity for children to swim during school hours each week is something offered by very few schools. You may not be aware that schools are only obliged to provide swimming lessons for 8 weeks in Year 4 as part of the National Curriculum.
We need to raise a minimum of £6,000 each year to run the pool
Money donated to the pool fund is used for all the running costs, maintenance & refurbishment of the pool, from paying for the chemicals that are needed each day, to buying a new boiler, to major works such as replacing the flat roof in 2006. The LSPA is responsible for raising all this money.
