Story
Jump for Jim is taking place on September 3 to raise money for the Jim Cronin Memorial Fund, a charity set up in memory of Jim Cronin, the founder of Monkey World – Ape Rescue Centre in Dorset, whom passed away in March 2007.
The charity aims to provide care and support, rescue and rehabilitation to apes and monkeys from illegal trade, exploitation and abuse. From our visits to the Rescue Centre, it is clear that the work and effort means a lot to these primates.
We plan to raise funds for this fantastic cause by moving away from our comfort zone and facing our fears by jumping out of a plane and (hopefully) landing safely. The money from this will go a long way in helping the charity complete their objectives:
- To advance the education of the public in the conservation of non -human primates and in all other matters concerning them, in particular, but not exclusively, through the construction and maintenance of an education centre
- To relieve the suffering of non-human primates which are in need of care and attention and in particular to rescue and provide care and treatment for such non-human primates that are unwanted, abandoned, neglected or ill-treated
Please take 5 minutes of your time to take a look at the great work of Monkey World here: http://www.monkeyworld.org/home.php
and kindly donate whatever you can spare. I even recommend if ever you’re near Wareham, to visit the Centre and witness the achievements of the team thus far in taking responsibility for the welfare of primates where others have shown neglect.
