Story

Let’s be honest, Valentine’s Day is a big bag of crap. An avalanche of advertiser propaganda nonsense about appreciating the “special someone” in our lives with overpriced presents, cutesy cards, knackered flowers and a vomit of naff red and pink hearts.

But you know what colour of heart is a cool one? A blue heart.

And something that’s really cute? People who dedicate themselves to looking after others.

So who REALLY needs a token of love and appreciation this February 14th? The NHS.

True love is self-sacrifice. NHS staff are sacrificing so much to get us through this pandemic, risking their physical and mental health for us every day. The situation during this current wave of the pandemic is beyond brutal - back breaking, spirit crushing, health impacting, stuff of nightmares and war zones work. There’s already been a year of it and there’s still months of it to come. They have chosen us over themselves. We can choose them this February and make them our valentines.

Give a gift with meaning this Valentine's Day and show your appreciation for the NHS by donating to NHS Charities Together here by February 14th.

NHS Charities Together represents, supports and champions the work of the NHS' official charities. What we raise will hopefully contribute to letting those on the frontline know that they are appreciated. Even a couple of quid helps.

If you’re thinking about shelling out any pennies this February 14th - falling for the aforementioned propaganda and appreciating someone one day of the year when you should appreciate them 365 or splashing cash on yourself instead because yes you are #worthit - then PLEASE, have a think about giving to NHS Charities Together instead. Use that money for a donation. Or you could do both. But do a donation first please ;)

(Disclaimer: if you have a friend/sibling/parent/partner/Tinder hook up etc who works for the NHS, would highly recommend fully embracing the propaganda and lavishing all the V Day treats on them you can.)
