Story
I was wandering around the internet and came across the EPIC Coast to Coast race. On a whim, I sent it to my sister, as we are planning on completing our bike ride across the UK (from Lands End to John O Groats) next September.
Of course she replied "OH MAN!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!! LETS DO IT UP!!!!!!!!" and I knew that this was happening.
Why not add another ridiculous challenge to the mix and cross over to another coast?!
So, we are now signed up to spend one day racing our butts off:
12 km run - 78 km road cycle - 1.6 km kayak - 34 off road cycle - 23 km road cycle - 23 km trail run - 1.6 km kayak.
This seems like a good idea, right? The best and possibly the worst.
While we haul our bodies over the rugged Highland terrain, we thought it would be a good time to raise funds for Mental Health research.
Mental health is a challenge that millions of people face each year. Depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and suicide touch nearly every family and life.
Unfortunately, there is still much we don't know about mental health - what causes it and how we can prevent and treat it.
MHRUK is a charity funding essential research and the money raised goes directly to research that can make a long-term difference.
So as we get set to pedal, paddle, and amble to our goal, we can all move a little bit closer to making a difference.
