Story
Holy Trinity Church is supporting the Love Thailand team on their Mission trip to Thailand from 16 July to 27 July 2010
Love Thailand will be taking a team from Bristol to work at Care Corner Orphanage, Chiang Mai and the Karen refugee settements. Money raised will be used to build a hostel with basic furnishing at the Karen refugee settlement, so that the Karen children can have basic education, and other neccessities for the children at the orphange.
The Karen Tribe are persecuted by the Myanmmar (Burmese) government due to their ancestor’s collaboration with the British during World War II. They are tortured, raped and killed at sight. This is the world's longest-running civil war which has forced 400,000 refugees into neighbouring Thailand. Our aim is to help relieve their suffering as they do not have the basic neccessities. We will be working with Karen refugees who escaped Burma and settled on the Thai border.
Care Corner Orphanage houses abandoned children, including children suffering from Aids and those rescued from child prosititution. It is committed to giving these children a caring environment.
The team will be taking part in different sponsored events, such as the Bristol 10k, cycling from Bristol to Bath (and back again!) and sponsored walks and swims. Your support is greatly appreciated and any amount you can donate to this cause will make a BIG difference to the lives of these children.
Thank you
The Love Thailand team.
