Story
There are an estimated eight million children living in orphanages worldwide - even though 80% of them are not orphans.
Hello! I am running/jogging (and possibly walking) the London Marathon (all 26.2 miles of it) for Lumos, an international non-profit organisation who work to end the institionalisation of children around the world.
Most children are institutionalised because their parents are poor and cannot adequately provide for them. And while many institutions are established with good intentions, more than 80 years of research proves that raising children in orphanages harms their health and development, increases their exposure to abuse and puts them at risk of future criminal activity.
Put simply, children need families, not orphanages.
Please help me support Lumos with any donation you can spare, 100% of your donation will go to support Lumos programmes.
