In 2002 my mum was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease, its a horrible disease that leaves you feeling helpless most of the time. It slowly removes the persons character and all of their abilities and there is so far, nothing we can do to stop it. As well as being awful for the person suffering the disease, it is incredibly painful for the people around them who love them and have to cope with all the affects of the diease and sometimes with no thanks from their loved one because they just don't understand.
In October 2010 I'm off to Tanzania to trek through the Highland Craters, Including trekking to the top of Olmoti Crater before moving on to climb the bigger Empakaai Crater.
I'm raising money for the Alzheimers Society to help them continue their research into this disease, in the hope they'll find an answer soon so we won't have to continue to watch our loved ones slowly disappear in front of our eyes. Research into the disease costs aprox. £100 A a day so please give as much as you can.
