Story
Thanks for visiting our page - unfortunately the evil disease Leukaemia came upon us again, when sadly my dad - George - was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in the middle of March 2009, the same disease that sadly took the life of my brother Bryan.
Since then, however, we have learned that research and treatment of the disease has come so far, and it is all thanks to the continued donations and fundraising events for Charities such as Leukaemia Research. From the start of my Dad's fight - he fought with great dignity and 100% positive attitude - not once ever complaining. He taught me alot in my life - but in the 3 months he was in that hospital - at times very, very ill, the way he fought with such a positive attitude - taught me so much, and I will remember that forever.
His treatment went very well and after a long spell in Ayr - latterly in the Beaston Cancer Hospital in Glasgow he was allowed home to be a Daily outpatient at Ayr Hospital. He was in the 1st stage of Remission and after some very low moments, was doing exceptionally well. Sadly, with Leukaemia comes the large risk of Hemorhhage, which happened to my Dad on Sunday, 24th May when he sadly lost his life and was taken to heaven to be with Bryan. It is a huge loss for all of us, especially my Mum, Nic and I - but we take comfort in knowing that Dad is with Bryan now and we have two very special Guardian angels looking over us.
We were supposed to do this run on May 30th, but postponed it due to the circumstances and now I am back in the gym - Nick and I are doing a 10k run on August 8th for this wonderful charity and in hope that they find a cure asap, so that noone else will have to go through the pain my Dad and Bryan had to.
I would like to say a huge Thank-you to everyone for supporting my Family through what has been a very difficult time. Also a big Thank-you to David Cunningham - who helped raise £400.00 and my Aunt Helen and Malcolm who donated £140.00 - both of with you will see on the Offline Donations section.
Thanks again,
Louise
