We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Thank you for visiting my Shine fundraising page in support of Cancer Research UK.

I'm walking the Shine London marathon with Lesley Ludlow as part of Team MD.

Team MD was inspired by my father in law Michael Davies who sadly lost his brave battle against cancer in July 2012.  A keen supporter of our efforts we feel that our challenge to complete our first marathon is a fitting tribute to his fight.

The idea was hatched on New Year's Eve - in the cold light of the next day neither of us was sure if it was a serious or alcohol induced proposition.  Several texts later a training plan was formulated 'special' trainers were purchased and even a spreadsheet created.  Then on a very chilly Wednesday a tentative 3 mile walk was undertaken...

Just a few months later and we are already clocking up over 25 miles a week.  Surprisingly to both of us, not only do we enjoy our training, our bodies have adjusted to the shock of exercise and seem to be coping ok, which makes us think that we might now actually be capable of completing a full marathon.  Something we didn't think we would be able to do this time last year!

Cancer Research UK is finded entirely by amazing supporters like you.  By sponsoring me you can help more people survive cancer.

Thank you so much for your support.

Louise
