Story
I would also like to raise some cash by running the Great North Run and then the York Marathon - 2 weeks after London (thanks to Covid everything is happening at once)
Nicks mum, Joan, died very peacefully in May 2019 after suffering with bowel cancer. She had been poorly for a lot longer than she’d let any of us believe. She was a very brave and inspiring lady right up until the end undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy to try to prepare herself for surgery. Sadly she was overwhelmed with disease and died very peacefully in St Benedicts Hospice. We all miss her terribly and would love to raise some money in her memory for bowel cancer UK.
Almost 10% of people diagnosed with colorectal cancer die within one month of diagnosis. 56% of people dying within one month are 80 or more years old. 60% of early deaths present initially as emergency cases to hospital. At least 50% of patients who die within one month receive no active treatment
This is UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. They fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care. They are here to stop people dying of bowel cancer.
Every donation (however small) has a massive impact and will be very much appreciated xx
