Story

Right then friends, I am participating in the East Leake Triathlon on the 27th March, with the help of my amazing little friend Stephanie Cobb, who is doing the swim at the start (seeing as drowning probably isn't helpful to completing the bike and run after that!). But apart from providing a bit of light entertainment in the art of cycling and running (badly), I am actually doing this for a very good cause, so please read on...

I am doing this triathlon to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. This is a an amazing charity that has provided a great deal of help to my family over recent years, especially when my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, at the age of 43. Throughout her surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy Macmillan were there every step of the way, for her and all of the family. Without them, the whole experience would have been so much harder.

Macmillan have also provided help to my wonderful nan, who was also diagnosed with breast cancer at a young age, my uncle Matt who is in remission for the second time, our dear family friend Val, and our great auntie Sandra, who we sadly lost last year.

I am very glad to say that mum is now doing ok. I'm so proud of how brave she was through it all, and how she still managed to take care of my baby brother Josh, who was 4years old at the time of her treatment. I am grateful to all of the family and friends that helped us through, we couldn't have done it without you either. I could not wish for any family to go through what we, and so many others affected by cancer, have done. But for those who do, I hope that the money I can raise doing this will go just a little way to helping Macmillan to support them.

Please sponsor me if you can, even if it's just £2 it will help me to reach my target. For anyone that wants to come along and watch, the event takes place from East Leake Leisure Centre on Sunday 27th March. Thank you!! :-)

**UPDATE 27/03/2011**

So today was the big day, and we completed the triathlon in 1hr, 19mins and 29 seconds! It was pretty cold outside and a lot of hard work, but well worthit! - Thank you to all those who came to support us, it made a huge difference and we really appreciate it! :-) Thank you to everyone that has donated so far - for those that haven't and would like to, the page is staying open for a little while. I know i've reached the fundraising target for the page but it would be brilliant to raise as much money as possible for  Macmillan...
