Story
I am running the London Marathon 2019 in memory of my friend of 25 years Daniella Menichetti. She left us on 8.12.16 leaving everyone who loved her shocked and heartbroken. I think about her and miss her everyday. I wish with all my heart that she could have held on for a short time until her dark clouds had passed.
I am proud to be running for the Samaritans in support of their suicide prevention campaign. I want to raise awareness of the extremely important service they provide. This is funded mainly by donations and put into practice by the amazing people who volunteer for this difficult task. The service is available 24 hours a day 365 days a year. It is vital that people know that the Samaritans are there to support them through difficult times and that it’s ok not to be ok. No one should suffer alone or in silence.
I know this can’t bring Daniella back but I hope that the funds raised might change the outcome for someone else, ease their suffering and spare any other family from this heartbreak.
Training for a spring marathon through the winter months is hard with mother nature throwing snow, wind, rain and freezing cold temperatures at you but I stay motivated by knowing that being able to do this is a privilege. Together we can change peoples lives.
I really hope that you will be able to give whatever you can in support. If you are free please come along on the day to cheer me on, seeing friendly faces in the crowd is such a lift when the going gets tough.
Thank you
Louise xx
