We tackle the causes of hunger today to give children a healthy tomorrow
Story
Right...
So you may not know, but I sucessfully completed a tandem skydive, along with my friend Vicky, on Sunday 15th November. The storm clouds cleared and we managed to jump out of a plane at 10,000ft attached to only to a piece of silk and a fully trained professional, who (thankfully) knew what they were doing (unlike us). I haven't lost me marbles, it's all for Charidee mate!
The charity is Action Against Hunger. Please check out their website (http://www.aahuk.org) so you can see why I am supporting them, but to give you a brief insight here is their mission statement (carefully copied from Vicky's page http://www.justgiving.com/Vicky-Cullen):
‘……The mission of Action Against Hunger is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition, especially during and after emergency situations of conflict, war and natural disaster. From crisis to sustainability, we tackle the underlying causes of malnutrition and its effects by using our expertise in nutrition, food security, water and sanitation, health and advocacy. By integrating our programs with local and national systems we further ensure that short-term interventions become long-term solutions.……’
Here's a rough idea of where the money raised will go:£1 can provide a meal for 6 children in
£5 can provide a meal for 30 children in
£27 can buy a survival kit to save the life of a severely malnourished child, including therapeutic milk and nutritional products and medicine.
£250 can help provide fluids for 50 children suffering from cholera in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
£500 can buy a weeks supply of therapeutic milk, nutritional products and medicine for 50 children in a Therapeutic Feeding centre.
Any support is welcome, be it a message of good luck, prayers to the gods on non-broken bones or cold hard cash. Any donations, however big or small are very welcome! It's something I've always fancied doing, and this is a very worthy cause to do it for.
Thanks,
Louise
