Bupa Great North Run 2011 · 18 September 2011 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hello.....................
Thank you for visiting my very important fundraising page!
What I am up to:
I am taking part in the Great North run on september 18th 2011
The reason for taking part in this event
My Dad! as some of you will know my dad had a heart transplant in february 2009, before he recieved his glorious gift he was seriously ill and in and out of hospital on a regular basis, he even had to have a berlin heart (mechanical heart pump!) fitted for 9 months whilst he waited for a suitable donor.
The whole journey has been an emotional rollercoaster to say the least! Our family has been through a really tough journey and throughout we sought information and support from the Cardiomyopathy Association.
Dad has just recovered from a hip replacement and is finally enjoying his new heart and his new lease of life!
The Cardiomyopathy Association
The Cardiomyopathy Association provides support, advice and information for individuals and families suffering from Cardiomyopathy. Cardiomyopathy is a bewildering disease, both for the patients and the family involved and often leaves many patients with lots of ongoing unanswered questions.
The CMA hold regional information days around the country at which cardiologists experienced in dealing with cardiomyopathy give presentations on the condition, latest treatments and research, and answer members' questions. They have support groups around the where members can learn more about the condition and share experiences. They also have a network of people affected by the condition who offer one-to-one support on the telephone. The CMA receives no Government funding for its work and relies solely on membership fees, donations and fundraising.
Over the years I have been in touch with other familes who have also been greatly affected by cardiomyopathy and I know they have seeked support and advice/information from the CMA. I really want to see the CMA continue to support people and their families who have been affected by this terrible disease.
SO HERE COMES MY PLEE, PLEASE SPONSOR ME, NO MATTER HOW LITTLE THE DONATION I WILL BE VERY GRATEFUL!! :)
