Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money for the ARCHIE foundation as they supplied accommodation for Willie (my hubby) and I to be near to my daughter Chelsey while she was in Aberdeen Children's hospital having an emergency neurosurgical operation to replace her shunt. This was in September last year 2009.
Aberdeen is about 220 mile from where we live.
The accommodation was just opposite the Intensive Therapy Unit so we could be with Chelsey within minutes if we needed to. We had cooking facilities and shower facilities too. It made a huge difference to be able to concentrate on Chelsey without looking for B&Bs away from the hospital.
Chelsey was discharged on the Monday, following her op on the Friday she unfortunately took a grand mal seizure in Burger King in Aberdeen and was rushed back to The Childrens Hospital for a scan. The scan showed that she had a small air bubble in her head and this would dissipate through time. The personnel at the ARCHIE accommodation suite arranged for us to stay and sorted the accommodation within minutes of Chelsey being re admitted. Chelsey was released the next day and is doing well with no permanent after effects.
The ARCHIE foundation also provides play co ordinators for the kids so that they are occupied while being in hospital. Willie and I saw all the good work and pleasure that spending time and organising games, crafts and singing songs made to the kids and therefore I am doing a half marathon to raise money to say thank you.
The ARCHIE foundation is a charity and depends upon donations to continue doing the good work it is currently doing.
Please dig deep guys,
Thanks,
Louise xxxx
