Those of you who know me will know that I like a challenge so this year I'm stepping it up and taking part in the Manchester Marathon on Sunday 03 April 2022.  Completing a marathon has always been on my bucket list so it's now or never as I attempt to tackle the gruelling 26.2 mile distance.   

I feel very lucky and proud to have this opportunity and hopefully I can raise as much as I can along the way for a fantastic charity.  I've chosen to run for Cancer Research UK as I've seen first hand the effects that cancer has, after loosing loved ones to this terrible illness and watching loved ones and close friends fight the disease.  I'll be running in memory of the many loved ones we have lost and in the hope of making a difference to people's lives. 

It's frightening to read that 1 in 2 people in the UK born after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime.  Cancer Research UK are the world’s largest charity dedicated to saving lives through research.  They pioneer life-saving research to help us beat cancer and their vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.

I'm excited and also very nervous but knowing that I'm doing this to raise money for this wonderful charity will carry me through all the training runs and get me over the finish line.
