Story
The Chubby Digits did it!!! Ok so I walked up the Beacon but there is no shame in that particularly as it was chucking it down and I couldn't see! Davor and Dan were brilliant along the way, top speed of 45 miles per hour!!! (mine was 32, didn’t want to set off any cameras..) Thank you so much for your support; thanks to everyone we have raised a huge amount for the British Heart Foundation. Here's to next year!! xx
This year I have decided to take on the London to Brighton Bike ride in aid of the British Heart Foundation on Sunday 19th June. Along with my team, The Chubby Digits. The team consists of Lynne, a good friend from school, who has been relegated to support team due to the happy news of a long awaited little one on the way. Dan, her husband and my better half, Davor. The cause is a very worthy and one close to our hearts.
The ride takes place each year starting at Clapham Common and ending in Brighton, some 50 miles, the toughest part is the notorious Ditchling Beacon towards the end of the route a 1 mile climb with an average gradient exceeding 1 in 10, which I am dreading. If our training session was anything to go by Davor and Dan will be waiting for some time for me to catch them up! Time for a couple of pints I should think...
The British Heart Foundation has been involved with the London to Brighton Bike Ride since 1980 and over 650,000 riders have taken part. Since then more than £40 million has been raised. Every day they save lives, through pioneering research, providing vital information to help people reduce their own heart health risks, campaigning for change and supporting and caring for heart patients.
Please sponsor us and help support the British Heart Foundation. It will be worth it just to laugh at me not being able to walk for a week!
