I have set myself a challenge and to be honest i'm a little nervous but i know with your support i can do it and at the same time raise money for better cancer care.
Macmillan wants to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer. They are the nurses that help cancer sufferers get through the treatment. They are the experts at the end of the phone. They are the advisors telling people which benefits they are entitiled to. They are the volunteers giving people a hand in everyday things. They are the Campaigners pushing for better cancer care.
£ 100 could mean that the macmillan support line would be able to help people affected by cancer claim £2,691 in benefits they're entitled to.
£156 Could run the macmillan support line for an hour, providing an average of 13 people with essential information and support.
£350 Could pay for a much needed convalescent break for someone with cancer and their carer.
£918 Could fund a Macmillan nurse for a working week.
£2,026 Could fund a Macmillan rehabilitation support team for a week, providing a range of services, including physiotherapy and diet advice, to people with cancer.
Being a nurse myself, I have seen at first hand what cancer does to a person, not just physically but emotionally and psychologically and it breaks my heart. It affects everyone around them; family, friends and work colleagues. But what i do find inspiring is how humanity pull together and help no matter how small, we run swim, hold parties, cake sales and a whole lot more, without fundraisers Macmillan would not be able to carry on their work.
I've set myself this challenge for macmillan charity but also to test myself mentally and physically and when i reach the top at sunrise, i will be shouting a big thankyou to all of you for making possible but also remembering cancer suffers, cancer survivors and those who are sadly no longer with us.
