With nearly 250 babies dying every week in the UK from complications during pregnancy, the work of Professor Robert Winston and the Women for Women Charity has never been so essential. The funds raised are used to train women scientists and clinicians to work on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of conditions causing genetic diseases, miscarriage, premature birth, brain damage and ovarian cancer. The fundamental aim is to ensure more women have a normal pregnancy with a healthy baby.
I was myself born prematurely and not given a huge chance of survival, both of my sons were born by cesarean section and i have family and friends that have suffered miscarriage and infertility problelms. In fact I dont know many families who do not know someone affected by these conditions.
Please help me support the amazing work of this charity, to cycle 400 k through Vietnam and Cambodia is a huge challenge for me, it has taken over a year to lose 41/2 stone, with another couple to go. When I signed up for the challenge I had not ridden a bike in over 40 years and started my endeavours on a bike I found in a skip. I am pleased to say that through committment and hard work much progress has been made.
I hope my story inspires you to support the work of this amazing organisation.
