Story
It's on SATURDAY! It's the coldest week of the year so far.
I have trained. Not enough but enough to get round (and round- I think it is in laps). Most people seem to be sponsoring me to stay in the country which is very nice of you- next time I won't bother with all of this exertion but having done it i have discovered some things about runners:
1. Runners get up early on Saturday mornings and run in parks all over the place.
2. Runners seem to be very very friendly.
3. Running blogs are not very funny.
Helen Bamber was an amazing inspirational woman and her death touched all of us who work with torture survivors. The Helen Bamber Foundation continues to offer support, assistance and an avenue to recovery.
As a mark of respect for both the woman and the Foundation that bears her name I am going to run 10k. In winter.
I haven't really done any running since I was at school and I hate winter. Really hate winter. So this is a bit of a challenge. I am sure that every £ you donate will encourage me to run faster/complete the race. More than that I am sure that every £ donated will directly impact the ability of the foundation to carry on Helen's legacy.
FIRST TRAINING SESSION 20.10.14
Running app said "Go running! Run 5k It's ok to walk a bit" So I went. Running app stopped proper distance recording which I realised on third circuit of Hampstead Heath. I think it is a trick. Determined not to give in until the app had recorded 5k I continued running round and round things until...Finally! Sucess! "You have reached your target!" Google maps thinks I ran 10k. And it rained. But there was the most absolutely beautiful full arc rainbow.
There were some others but I haven't written anything about them. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
