Hello my lovely donatees (yes, you... that is your new name... I sanctioned it so).

You may or may not have known for some time that I have been planning to run the Baltimore half marathon on 12th October 2013. This has come into existence (my plan, not the Baltimore half marathon) because of two things: 1) my American friend (who is a regular long distance runner, incidentally) suggested that "it may be fun to run together again" (her words, not mine - note that we have only run together once, and it was a 5k at that), and 2) because I believe wholeheartedly in what Genesis are trying to achieve. 

In my working life as a researcher I speak to women whose lives have been affected by breast cancer. It is incredibly humbling to spend my days listening to and interpreting women's stories of their family history of disease, personal breast cancer journeys, and hearing their fears for the future. With amazing charities such as Genesis, we may not be able to prevent all breast cancers, but we may just be able to save one life... and I know that one life makes my months of training and the blisters from the 13.1 mile half marathon worth it.

So if you could find the extra pennies in these cash strapped times, I'd be very grateful.
