Story
Dear Everyone,
Peru flood recovery - Oct 2017 -Jan 2018.
Firstly thanks very much, your money will go a long way here. EVERY penny you donate will go directly to the Peru flood response projects & materials, not towards organizational overhead, so you can feel good knowing your money will have a strong impact on rural & poor community's in Peru.
As only a few of you know, I'm currently in a remote area of Piura in north Peru, South America volunteering for All Hands.
Widespread flooding and severe rains in Peru began intensifying March of 2017 causing landslides, floods and mud flows. Over 100 people have been killed with 639,000 people affected and displaced from their homes. The All Hands Volunteers team began assessing conditions in April 2017 and the Mayor and other government officials have requested our immediate assistance. Given this urgent need, they launched a response program to focus on cleaning out & rebuilding affected schools, constructing temporary learning centers, rebuilding hospitals, mobilizing local volunteers, and mucking out homes.
It's hands on & long days but so worth the risks as I'm helping those who need it most. Since the natural disaster, it's now become one of poorest parts of Peru. I'm not in construction work, so this will be very challenging, risky for me. I've put a lot of my own personal money into getting here in Peru, South America to help those who need my help. I believe I can make a bigger impact & difference by physically being here & getting fully involved. If you can help me by raising money & awarness, which is for materials equipment etc to rebuild, the money will go a long way. The reward of helping people will always outway everything.. and that's what really matters here, helping people in any way we can.
Please give today so we can help the people of Peru, in their time of crisis. Even a small donation will help me achieve my goal!
Thanks so much for your support & stay updated with all my disaster relief photos from Peru which I'll post via my instagrame page LouiseGlover.
re-building hope :-)
Kindest regards, Louise Glover x
