Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to run the Bath Half Marathon on the 6th of March 2011 in memory of the most influencial person in my life - my mum, Glenis Eyles.
I will be raising money for a charity called 'Core', which is the only charity that funds research into the entire range of gut, liver, intestinal and bowel illnesses. As part of their research, they hope to find cures for Digestive disorders, including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), pancreatitis, and cancers of the gut and liver, as well as offering support to those living with these.
My mum passed away last summer, as many of you are aware, and therefore this is something very close to my heart. She suffered with Chrohn's Disease (a type of digestive disorder) for a great number of years, and although we cannot be sure as to whether there was a link, last May she developed a type of liver cancer. Although she was an amazing, strong and positive person, after a three month battle she peacefully passed away.
Not only is this run to celebrate the life of my mum and raise money for charity, I also want to raise awareness of these diseases which aren't very well known. I would also like to mention that this is something I have always wanted to do, and when my mum was diagnosed with cancer I decided then I would take part in a run to raise money for charity. Although circumstances are different I intend to follow this out and make my family proud.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Hopefully with your help we can make a difference by providing thousands of people who suffer from digestive diseases the opportunity to enjoy a better quality of life.
So please, dig deep, as any donation big or small would mean so much. Thankyou!!
