Event: Fall for the Fallen, from 12 August 2017 to 13 August 2017
In memory of Ray Caswell
A tandem parachute event created by Veterans to honour our fallen. Each jump represents a life lost in Afghanistan and raises funds for Blesma, The Limbless Veterans.

Story

I am taking part in a tandem sky dive from 10,000 feet  to raise money for Blesma and also to remember my Grandfather - Ray Caswell , who lost his arm in the Second World War, and went on to be awarded the Croix de Guerre for bravery.

Blesma, The Limbless Veterans, is dedicated to assisting serving and ex-Service men and women who have suffered life-changing limb loss or the loss of use of a limb, an eye or loss of sight. Blesma support these men and women in their communities throughout the UK and overseas. They work tirelessly for our Members when the conflicts that have affected their lives are no longer a focal point in the nation’s media.

Since 1932, Blesma have been the only national Service charity that supports limbless veterans for the duration of their lives. Their members range from the youngest amputee veterans to those who fought in WWII, some having lived with limb loss for more than half a century.

Modern medicine transforms the physical injury, but it is a complicated process to treat the emotional trauma and related lifelong health problems. Blesma provides a network where Members not only enjoy support from their professional Welfare Team, but where they have the opportunity to engage with others who have similar injuries and backgrounds to themselves, building an important fellowship with each other to overcome everyday battles.

* Just £10 would help towards transport costs to a Limb Fitting Centre so that amputees can get the expert help they need to stay mobile and healthy.

* £20 would help to pay for a dedicated Blesma Support Officer to visit an amputee and provide emotional support and practical advice.

* £100 Would help towards the cost of an amputee to take part in one of Blesma's tailored activities, vital for mental health, self-confidence and well-being.

* £150 Would help towards home adaptations to get them back on their feet and live independently once again.
