Story
On the 1st June I started working at Cleft Lip And Palate Association as a fundraising officer. To say that I’ve been utterly blown away by the cleft community is an understatement. So, so, many inspiring people, who have raised THOUSANDS of pounds to help others, in a similar situation. Often new parents who have felt completely overwhelmed upon diagnosis of a cleft lip and/or palate in their unborn baby, and within a year (or even a few months sometimes), they want to run a marathon (🤮😰) to demonstrate how grateful they are for the support they’ve received from CLAPA. I don’t get involved with the emotional or medical support but I try and help CLAPA’s fundraisers through their ‘journey’ as much as possible. But I wanted to do more.
Sooooo I’ve clearly gone insane and signed up for my first EVER 5k. Those that know me, know that I am NOT a runner. For many different reasons but mainly my love of chocolate…and NOT running. 😂
Anyhoo…I’m hoping that those reading this will want to help me, help others, who have been affected by cleft (most don’t realise that it can be a long journey involving multiple operations in childhood and beyond, and can affect feeding, speech, hearing, and of course appearance) and chuck me a quid or two?! Pretty please? 🙏🏻
It’s cliché but even a pound would be amazing and much appreciated. 🙂
Thank you!!! XxX
