Story
In June 2018 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. One in eight women is affected by the condition, but it comes as a massive shock when you find out that you're one of them. Breast cancer treatment is a challenge, to put it mildly - surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy in my case - but Breast Cancer Care provided brilliant support and advice, alongside the exceptional medical care I received from Nottingham City Hospital.
I was lucky to have a hugely caring and supportive network around me too, who helped keep me strong - emotionally and physically. I'm really pleased and proud that some of those very special people are running with me in the Robin Hood Half Marathon on 29th September 2019 to raise money for Breast Cancer Care so that others who are diagnosed continue to receive the help that they need. Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now are merging in 2019. Their aim is that by 2050, everyone who is diagnosed with breast cancer will survive. Hopefully kinder treatments will be developed too.
Huge thanks to Marcus, Georgie, Mark B, Callum, Andrea, Lisa H, Mark M, Mandy, Toby, Jack, Jacob, and Karen who are joining the fund-raising challenge. Happy for others to get on board too, as part of Team Lou! Just let us know if you fancy it.
We'd all be immensely grateful for any support you can give us. Thank you so much!
