Every year more than 103,000 children and young people are treated at Evelina London. Like everyone all you ever want is for your child to be healthy but when Leo was diagnosed with congenital heart disease in our 12 week scan it was inevitable he would be one of those statistics.

In fact, within the first few months of his life Leo was bluelighted twice to Evelina where he underwent two major surgeries - a stent and open heart. Although it was frightening and horrific at the same time it was also a very humbling experience. Seeing first-hand the care and passion of the Evelina London team as well as the level of expertise made us feel incredibly fortunate  - our son was in the best possible hands. 

We can never thank Evelina enough, and as Leo may well need future surgery, I have decided to take part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money. I hate running, so this sort of distance is a huge, huge challenge for me - not to mention the three month training plan before it! 

I know a lot of you supported me when I ran a marathon over the month of June in 2021 for British Heart Foundation so anything you can give is hugely appreciated. Thanks to your generous donations, Evelina are able to make a difference to sick children
