Story
This charity is very personal to me as during my training for the London Virtual Marathon I was diagnosed with Lobular breast cancer.
I was very shocked as It wasn't picked up in the mammogram 3 weeks earlier. Since then I've had many dark days where I feel alone and although the love and support of family and friends are there it's hard to talk to anyone who doesn't know exactly what you are going through, also you don't want to worry anyone else and other people's reactions seemed to make it worse. You feel as though you are dragging your loved ones on a journey that you didn't choose to take. I have since had two surgeries now to remove both my breasts and to get clear margins near my chest wall, my last surgery was six weeks ago. I will be starting radiotherapy on the 21st of September but I'm still determined to run the marathon as I intentionally planned. I want to support the charity and the hospital that has supported me so they can help anyone in the future that may find themselves in my shoes.
