I am raising money following my beautiful daughter Emily being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL)in 2013.
Emily is 5 years old and loves dancing, music and playing. In
summer 2013, Emily became pale and generally quite tired. Bruises
appeared, and some nights pains in her legs actually woke her up.
Various doctors suggested repeated viral infections.
Shortly after
her 4th birthday, Emily went rapidly downhill. She was very lethargic
and her breathing became quite laboured. Blood tests suggested
Leukaemia, so Emily was admitted to Ward 84 at RMCH. She received a
blood transfusion (please give blood, it does miracles!) and further
tests confirmed Acute Lymphoblasitc Leukaemia. It was horrifying.
After
6 months of intensive chemotherapy, Emily is now in the maintenance
phase of treatment with six months remaining. She has amazed us with her
resilience and bravery. Emily is attending school full time and l;oves playing with her friends.
Children with Cancer UK fund life-saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood cancer. They have specifically funded research into Emily's treatment, aiming to cure her of this awful disease and to reduce longterm side effects.
Projects
being worked on NOW include leukaemia, neuroblastoma, brain tumours and
bone and soft tissue sarcomas. Over 1,500 children are diagnosed with
cancer every year.
This isn't something that only happens to other people so please help us....
