Event: Rainbow Trust Fire Walk 2009, on 21 October 2009
We provide emotional and practical support to families with a seriously ill child.

Story

I have been challenged to walk barefoot over red hot coals that are burning at 1200ºF. Apparently it's the ultimate test of mind over matter!

On the 21st October I will be joined by up to 160 others at Gibson Hall in Bank for a two hour motivational training seminar, then we will all cross 20 foot of fire in front of 100s of spectators (let me know if you want to come along!)

As you know, Rainbow Trust has been a massive part of my life for a long time and I am really proud to work for them. The families that Rainbow Trust support face unimaginable challenges everyday, so in theory this should be a walk in the park!

What Rainbow support means:

Support means being with a bereaved mother who is on her hands and knees threatening suicide, who by the time we leave the house, many hours later, is able to laugh at her self

Support is comforting a distraught surgeon, after he had to tell a family that their child had died while he was operating on her

Support is making cakes with child propped in a high chair, because he was too weak to stand, and only had a week left to live

Support is reassuring a sibling that cancer isn’t a big bad monster coming to get him too

Support is listening on the phone while a mother sobs her heart out, because the weather is cold, and her son has been buried without an overcoat

“When your world is turned upside down by having a child who is ill, sometimes you just need someone you can rely on – I have always been able to rely on Rainbow’s Support”
Mother

To make this challenge worthwhile I want to raise as much as I can. The minimum target is £200 but it would be amazing if you could help me smash that.

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page, please be generous with your donations as it will make every step even more worth while.

Don't forget to tick the gift aid box if you can, Rainbow will receive an exta 28p for every £1 you donate!
