Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In April 2019, my wonderful Dad, Chris Wood passed away following a 7 month battle with an aggressive brain tumour. He was 54 years old.
It is well known that research into brain tumours is hugely underfunded in the UK. And there are hundreds of families every year receiving the news that there is no more than can be done. Organisations like the ellenor hospice in Kent are invaluable to support families like mine, when they receive the worst news.
Our experience with the ellenor hospice in Kent began with support at home, leading to care on the ward and then aftercare for our family. Nothing was too much trouble for them, every single member of the team went above and beyond to make sure that Dad was comfortable and that we were all ok. Organisations such as the ellenor continue to rely almost entirely on charitable donations to support families facing terminal illness and to carry out their invaluable work.
I was lucky enough to secure a charity place with ellenor hospice for the London Marathon in 2021. An injury and a global pandemic later, I will finally be on the starting line in April 2023!
