Story
Hello, I'm Louisa. I used to work in Gaza, with Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP).
They've been working in Gaza and the West Bank. for more than thirty years. I was really impressed with their work: especially when I saw the catastrophic results of bombs that kill, maim and injure with no discrimination.
MAP are on the ground inside Gaza right now, supporting Palestinians during this intense Israeli military operation. Since 7th May, at least 213 Gazans have been killed including 59 children, by bombardments from the air, land and sea. More than 2,000 Gazans have been injured, some of them maimed for life.
Ten thousand people have fled their homes to camp in local schools. They don't have bomb shelters in Gaza, and fear their homes will collapse on top of them and their families.
MAP is buying stocks of urgent medical supplies. These include disposables for the central blood bank to aid blood transfusions, anaesthetic drugs, and disposable wound staplers to rapidly close wounds. MAP is also working with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) on emergency Covid-19 responses.
The situation inside Gaza right now is tense and very frightening. "Many people can hardly believe they have survived this latest attack" says my old colleague, Fikr Shalltoot. She's MAPs programme director in Gaza. Fikr says that just a few days ago a residential block very close to the MAP office was blown up.

Please support my fundraiser for MAP to buy emergency medical supplies and disposable equipment - and to support local Palestinian emergency services trying to cope with the scale of injuries in Gaza.

Thank you so much, from Louisa
