I came here to update my page today and discovered that "my story" has completely vanished. 😔
Back in 2019, I decided that I would attempt my first half marathon and I would look for a charity place to raise money for a cause I care about. I used to volunteer with my local Cats Protection branch to organise and support fundraising, run their social media and give talks to interested groups as an educational speaker. The local landscape has changed and I didn't have the time to commit to events etc anymore but this was some practical fundraising I could do to support the branch.
Up until last week (writing in July 2021) I had 4 cats, all rescues, 3 of them from CP. I cannot tell you how much joy they bring to my life and how much they contribute to my mental well-being. They are, to talk in clichés, my family. I've had Phin since 2005 and Sapphie since 2007. I'd had George for the last 14 years as well 🌈
Sadly, not everyone is able to give cats the care and attention they deserve and that's where Cats Protection comes in. Ensuring that cats are neutered to stop unwanted litters, rehoming cats of all ages and educating people to look after their cats.
Running a half marathon is no easy feat for me. I wouldn't describe myself as a natural runner. I have to work hard and it's as much mental is it is physical. I've chosen London Landmarks as it's the closest I'll probably get to running the London Marathon and running through iconic sights should distract me from the pain everywhere else 😂
