Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Osteoporosis affects 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men over the age of 50 in the UK, with 300,000 fragility fractures estimated every year. My Nan was a part of this statistic 2 years ago when she suffered a hip fracture. She had complicated rehabilitation that left her hospitalised and she is still having mobility issues today. Luckily, she wasn't one of over 1000 deaths related to hip fractures every year. She didn’t realise she had the disease as it is symptomless. Consequently you probably wouldn't realise you had osteoporosis until you suffered a fracture!
I'm currently undertaking a PhD with the aim of preventing bone loss at the University of Sheffield. Osteoporosis 2000 is the local charity for the disease, which is dedicated to supporting patients with osteoporosis and their carers, providing exercise and mobility classes and raising awareness of the disease.

We can all appreciate how important independent charities, like Osteoporosis 2000, are to local communities! All donations will go towards the services provided by the patient-led group and can be securely made through this page.
Cheers,
Louis
