Story

Hi! We are Louie’s Ladies, but trust us, it’s not just us...EVERYONE loves Louie! As members of the Education Team, we’ve all seen Louie’s magic firsthand. From building trust with children uncomfortable around animals, to teaching the community about the dangers of heartworms, to befriending our classroom bunny Tom Selleck, Louie is the embodiment of everything we teach. What is truly amazing about Louie’s compassionate nature, is the sad beginning from which he came. Louie was in bad shape when animal control brought him to Charleston Animal Society. He had a shattered right front leg, an embedded collar, and heartworms. “Bad shape” really doesn’t do it justice. But, as always, the veterinarians and staff at Charleston Animal Society stood up to the challenge. They had to amputate his leg, surgically remove his collar, and give him really painful and expensive heartworm treatment; but after all that he was saved! Join us in the fight to save more animals like Louie by donating today!
