Story
Many of you know our son Louie was in hospital in February with a disease called Kawasaki. Kawasaki disease is the leading cause of acquired heart disease in UK children. If you have never heard of it before then please keep reading.
We are so lucky, that one of the four doctors we saw when he started with symptoms recognised the signs of Kawasaki, meaning Louie was treated appropriately on day 5 and his first heart scan came back normal. The outcome could have been very different if it wasn’t for that one doctor and her knowledge.
This is living proof that the symptoms of Kawasaki are not well known, from that first night in hospital we were determined to raise awareness of this disease, and started by sharing Louie’s story with friends and family via social media.
Since then we have found “societi”, an organisation established to do just that. Their ambition is to make sure that EVERY parent, EVERY doctor – and EVERYONE knows Kawasaki Disease. Societi is funded primarily by donations and contributions from fundraiser and this is where were asking for your help.
To protect tiny hearts Chris, John and Callum will be running a combined total of 300k in the month of April. Any sponsor, no matter how big or small will be hugely appreciated, and will support societi to continue to raise awareness.
Please read Louie’s story and educate yourself your friends and other parents about the symptoms. https://www.instagram.com/p/CK4iFZ5BHpw/?igshid=7psjueupcmit
